A batsman will get out for double hit if he hits the ball twice. This is also very rare but it occurs.

However, the batsman can not get out if:

• He hits the ball a second time to protect the wicket. For example by stopping the ball from rolling back.
• He returns the ball to the fielding team, if he has their permission.
